Hertz is cutting prices on one of the most unusual vehicles ever offered through its specialty rental fleet, giving buyers a chance to own a limited-production Shelby-badged Ford Mustang Mach-E GT-H for significantly less than its original asking price.

The rental giant has reduced pricing on the electric performance crossovers, with current listings ranging from $40,085 to $40,999. When Hertz first began selling the vehicles in 2024, many were listed for more than $60,000.
The discounted pricing has drawn attention not only because of the savings involved, but also because the Mach-E GT-H occupies a unique place within the long-running partnership between Hertz and Shelby American. Unlike previous collaborations centered around V8-powered Mustang coupes, this modern interpretation combined the Mustang Mach-E electric crossover with exclusive Shelby styling and performance-inspired upgrades.
The Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT-H models were produced exclusively for Hertz, making them unavailable through traditional Ford dealerships. Production was reportedly limited to around 100 units, adding an element of rarity to the EVs now entering the used market.
Although these vehicles previously served in a rental fleet, many show relatively modest mileage. Some examples currently listed have fewer than 5,000 miles, while the highest-mileage units remain just above 15,000 miles.
The GT-H package added several visual and cosmetic enhancements beyond the standard Mustang Mach-E GT. Gold racing stripes pay tribute to earlier Hertz-Shelby collaborations, while forged wheels, carbon-fiber exterior components, and commemorative details further separate the model from ordinary Mach-E variants. A Borla-developed sound system designed to imitate the tone of a traditional V8 engine was also included as part of the package.
Mechanical performance remained unchanged from the standard Mach-E GT. Power continues to come from an electric drivetrain producing 480 horsepower, delivering the quick acceleration expected from Ford’s high-performance EV crossover.
Despite the departure from the classic Mustang formula, the Mach-E GT-H still connects directly to one of the most recognizable partnerships in American automotive history. The original collaboration began in 1965 when Hertz teamed with Shelby American to launch the GT350-H as part of the company’s “Rent-a-Racer” program. The initiative placed high-performance Mustangs into rental fleets nationwide, allowing customers to experience Shelby performance cars firsthand.
That original GT350-H later became a sought-after collector car, prompting additional Hertz-Shelby collaborations over the years. The partnership returned in 2006 with another special-edition Shelby GT-H Mustang and resurfaced again in 2016 to celebrate the program’s 50th anniversary with an even more limited production run.
Unlike those earlier V8-powered fastback Mustangs, the Mach-E GT-H embraces a dramatically different approach with its electric powertrain and crossover body style. While that change may divide traditional Mustang enthusiasts today, the vehicle’s unusual place within Shelby and Hertz history could eventually make it appealing to collectors seeking something different.
For now, the sharp price reductions appear aimed at moving inventory while offering buyers an opportunity to purchase one of the rarest factory-backed Mustang Mach-E variants produced to date.
