Garage-Built 1965 Chevelle Packs 900 Horsepower of Twin-Turbo Brilliance

Anthony’s 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle might look like a cleanly restored classic, but beneath its subtle exterior lies a home-built monster making more than 900 horsepower. What makes the car remarkable isn’t just the power—it’s that nearly every part was installed in Anthony’s own garage.

The Chevelle began life as a simple driver before Anthony transformed it into a street-ready, track-capable muscle car. Power comes from a forged LS2 engine featuring Texas Speed internals, LS3 heads, and a BTR intake. A Stage 2 twin-turbo cam works with a pair of 66-millimeter turbos to push output to 920 horsepower on E85 at 16 pounds of boost. Thanks to a flex-fuel sensor, it can also run on pump gas.

Transferring all that power is a T-56 Magnum six-speed manual transmission from American Powertrain, paired with a Centerforce twin-disc clutch. The rear end is a Quick Performance Ford nine-inch unit with 35-spline axles—more than capable of handling the torque.

Despite the wild setup, Anthony wanted the Chevelle to retain its classic character. He painted it in a Porsche GT3 color, smoothed the bumpers, and added hood and fender vents for cooling. The 18-inch wheels wear Mickey Thompson tires that manage to put the power down with surprising control.

In the interior, the cabin mixes vintage style with modern comfort. C6 Corvette seats and Dakota Digital gauges join a handmade center console and TMI door panels. Even cup holders made the cut, keeping the car practical for cruising.

Supporting it all is a 10-point cage integrated into the chassis, Stage 5 Viking coilovers, and Wilwood brakes. The result is a machine that blends old-school muscle with modern precision—a true garage-built powerhouse that proves skill and passion can rival any professional shop.
