A 2005 Ford GT formerly owned by actor Paul Walker has drawn significant attention after selling for $634,500 on Bring a Trailer, surpassing typical values for the model. The result reflects both the car’s condition and the continued appeal of vehicles once tied to well-known enthusiasts.
Ford created the modern GT as a tribute to its GT40 racers, which famously dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the late 1960s. The production model carried the visual spirit of those endurance winners, pairing a low-slung body and racing-inspired chassis with a supercharged 5.4-liter V-8. Its blend of accessible power, striking design, and limited production quickly made it a staple among collectors.
This particular example stands out even without its celebrity ownership. One of only 14 finished in Mark IV Red without stripes, it shows fewer than 3,700 miles and remains close to factory specification aside from an aftermarket exhaust. The included BBS wheels placed it at the higher end of the market, where top-condition 2005 GTs are typically valued just above $550,000.
The auction listing featured driving footage that highlighted the car’s sharp exhaust note, reinforcing its well-preserved condition. With bidding surpassing concours-level values well before the close, the sale demonstrated that the provenance associated with Walker still resonates. His collection has produced strong results in recent years, including a multimillion-dollar group sale in 2020.
While other Ford GTs—especially Heritage Edition models with extremely low mileage—have recently crossed similar price thresholds, this result underscores the premium some buyers place on past ownership by a recognizable figure. Even without any movie ties, the car’s brief time in Walker’s garage appears to have meaningfully influenced its final price.
