Chevrolet Unveils 2027 Corvette Grand Sport Lineup With New 6.7L V8 Power

Chevrolet is bringing back a historic nameplate with the debut of the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport while introducing a new performance variant, the Grand Sport X, as part of an expanded eighth-generation lineup. The two models combine legacy-inspired styling with a newly developed V8 engine, marking a significant step forward for Corvette’s core performance offerings.

At the center of both vehicles is the next-generation LS6 6.7-liter V8, now positioned as the primary engine across the Corvette range, including the updated Stingray. Producing 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, the naturally aspirated engine delivers increased output throughout the rev range, aided by a larger displacement, higher compression ratio, and improved airflow through a revised intake and throttle system. Durability enhancements include upgraded internal components and a new lubrication system designed for sustained high-performance driving.

The Grand Sport continues its traditional role as a balance between everyday usability and track capability. Built with rear-wheel drive, it features standard Magnetic Ride Control, a touring-focused suspension setup, and all-season performance tires. Optional performance packages introduce more aggressive suspension tuning, upgraded braking systems, and track-oriented tires, along with aerodynamic enhancements designed to improve high-speed stability and cornering performance.

The Grand Sport X expands the formula with an electrified all-wheel-drive system, pairing the V8 engine with a front-mounted electric motor and battery pack. The combined output reaches 721 horsepower, with immediate torque delivery at the front axle enhancing acceleration and traction. The system is engineered to maintain the agility of the mid-engine platform while adding confidence in varying driving conditions. Multiple drive strategies allow drivers to tailor performance for endurance driving, maximum lap times, or on-demand power bursts.

Design elements across the lineup draw from Corvette’s racing heritage, including signature striping and distinctive body details that reference earlier Grand Sport models. Interior options emphasize personalization, with unique color combinations and trim details available through special launch editions.

Chevrolet will also update the 2027 Corvette Stingray with the same LS6 engine, along with revised suspension tuning and performance upgrades. Production of the new models is set to begin at the Bowling Green Assembly plant, reinforcing Corvette’s role as a cornerstone of the brand’s performance lineup.
