More than double the price of a C8 base model.

Whenever a highly anticipated car comes out, usually the prices are marked up by the thousands before eventually settling down. Usually it is the dealerships that gouge the price once they reach the showroom floor. This newly ordered 2020 C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z51 is listed on eBay for $119,999 by a customer looking to make some bank considering it is double the price of a base model. The mid-engine Corvette was ordered from a Chevy dealership in Pennsylvania, and now it is for sale on the popular auction site for anyone looking to jump the line on their C8 purchase.

The seller's description is as follows:

You Are buying the opportunity to purchase an early allocation of a 2020 C8 Chevy Corvette. This is an early allocation from a premier Chevy dealer in bucks County PA. Expected delivery date of May/June 2020. March Build. Listing price includes the price of the Corvette plus the market value gap. Purchase price to be paid at the Dealership at delivery $82,307.05 including PA tax and tags.
The seller, “surplusliquidator85” is also selling organic baby lotion, for those interested.

Price gouging is common once these highly desired new models hit the market. We've seen it before with the new 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and the all-new 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Daytona Widebody 50th Anniversary edition. Even more, this certainly won't be the last time we see cars marked up way above their value.

Supposedly, Chevrolet dealers have already accepted their maximum of 40,000 Corvettes, but some orders can still be placed for anyone interested. The summer of 2019 was when orders started for this new mid-engine 'Vette, but the launch of the car was set back a full month thanks to the UAW strike back in September and October.

General Motors reportedly loses money for any new Corvette that is sold below $80,000. You can expect the price to be even higher for the 2021 model once it starts hitting showroom floors. If anyone wants to purchase one with plenty of options, it will likely be over $80,000.
