A supercharged, 650-hp 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle restomod heads to auction, blending vintage style with modern comfort and drivability.
The 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle has long stood as one of the most recognizable names in American muscle, but this custom restomod convertible proves that nostalgia doesn’t have to mean compromise. Built by Dek’d Out Customs of Oxnard, California, the car is headed to the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction from Oct. 15–18, where it promises to turn heads with both its looks and performance.

The convertible retains the Chevelle’s aggressive stance and SS-inspired details, including a cowl-induction hood, chrome bumpers, and SS badging. Painted in Pastel Blue with Oyster stripes, the car’s finish extends into the engine bay and chassis for a seamless, color-matched appearance. Flush Kindig door handles and modern trim details hint at the upgrades hidden beneath the classic lines.

Under the hood, the original V8 has been replaced with a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 engine rated at 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and a Ford 9-inch rear end, the Chevelle delivers a level of speed and reliability its 1970s counterpart could only dream of. Flowmaster-equipped headers and dual exhaust give the car an unmistakable muscle car soundtrack.

The mechanical upgrades don’t stop there. A custom chassis with RideTech suspension, coilovers, and sway bars provides sports car-like handling, while Wilwood disc brakes with six-piston calipers up front ensure modern stopping power. Falken tires wrapped around polished 20-inch wheels complete the package.

Inside, the Chevelle is trimmed in Oyster leather with Pastel Blue stitching and modern touches including Dakota Digital gauges, power windows, Bluetooth connectivity, and Vintage Air climate control. A power-operated convertible top rounds out the comfort features.
While estimates have not been released, restomod Chevelles have recently sold for as much as $600,000, underscoring the demand for classic style with modern engineering. This one-off convertible seems poised to follow suit.
