Spotlight: Fast Lane Caters To The Car Collector

Founded in 1994, Fast Lane is a true family-owned classic and collector car dealership.

The staff at Motorious recently got a chance to interview David Williams, one of the original founders – and current owner – of Fast Lane Classic Cars. What we discovered was that Fast Lane is not your ‘average’ shop. Everything about the story behind the doors, past, present, and future, comes together to keep this business connected with its customers.

It all started back in 1994, when David started the company with a partner who had a Mustang business in the area - making St. Charles, Missouri the stage for the development and growth of Fast Lane Classic Cars.

Over the following years, the need for more space became evident, and they moved and expanded in a nearby facility. Fast forward to 2019, and they have three showrooms filled with over 200 high-quality cars, trucks, and motorcycles.

While Fast Lane was growing, David also met his now wife, who became a part of the business, and so did her daughter. David’s stepdaughter is now in training to help run the business.

Fast Lane has also managed to earn the name of being the midwest's largest Backdraft dealer, who specializes in custom-built Cobra replicas. A venture that all began with David’s personal taste and roots in motorsports. With a current inventory of about 10 Backdraft Cobras in stock, they also work with Superformance to keep their supply healthy as well.

“We work every day to earn the reputation our business was founded on. To provide the best quality cars, trucks, and motorcycles and to be as honest and clear with every customer as possible. We are committed to make sure buying a Fast Lane car is the only way to invest in a vintage vehicle!”

David is not just someone who operates a business that deals in collectable cars, he also races them.

So what’s in store for the future of Fast Lane? While they continue to offer services as a full-service classic car restoration and dealer - they are working hard throughout the summer for the St. Louis Cars and Coffee on the 2nd weekend of every month through October, and have several other events in the works you can learn about here.

As far as David handing the legacy off to his stepdaughter and other trusted employees, that’s the plan, but he’s nowhere near done, “I’m building the foundation to hand off, but not anytime soon.”
