A beautifully preserved piece of early-1960s Stuttgart engineering is currently up for bid on Hagerty Marketplace, where this 1963 Porsche 356B 1600 Super Cabriolet has already drawn fourteen bids and a leading offer north of $125,000. The listing offers a rare chance to own a late-production, numbers-matching example of one of Porsche's most charming open-top classics.
Introduced for 1960, the 356B brought Porsche's popular open-air roadster a raised front bumper, a stronger body structure, and a broader range of engine choices. This particular Cabriolet is a late-production T6 example, built by the Stuttgart coachbuilder Reutter and finished with the desirable 75-horsepower 1600 Super engine, twin larger-glass grilles, and a revised deck lid.
Factory records trace the car back to its original sale through the famed Hoffman Motors dealership, which delivered it new to a customer in Plainfield, New Jersey, on September 1, 1963. Decades later, in 1995, the Cabriolet earned a national-level win at the Porsche Club of America's Lake Placid Porsche Parade, cementing its reputation among 356 enthusiasts long before its current sale.
The car underwent a comprehensive bare-metal refurbishment in 2024, emerging in its factory Slate Gray finish with a contrasting Lipstick Red leather interior and era-correct square-weave carpet. Its 1.6-liter 1600 Super flat-four and four-speed manual transaxle are both original and numbers-matching, backed up by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and factory Kardex. The rebuild also touched the period-correct twin Zenith 32 NDIX carburetors, ignition components, and other mechanical details, while fresh Vredestein Sprint Classic tires wrap the original 15-inch steel wheels.
Now represented by a Broad Arrow specialist and offered with a clean Montana title, this 356B Cabriolet combines documented history, concours pedigree, and a fresh restoration in a color combination bidders have called a standout.
