The truck, part of Chevrolet’s Task Force lineup, represents one of just 1,405 Cameo-equipped models produced for the 1958 model year. Originally designed as a more upscale version of the standard 3100 pickup, the Cameo edition reflected a shift in consumer demand as trucks began appealing beyond traditional work roles and into suburban lifestyles.

The example currently offered shows 5,068 miles, though total mileage remains unknown due to title exemption. A frame-off restoration completed in 2012 aimed to preserve the truck’s original character while enhancing drivability and presentation.

Visually, the pickup stands out with a two-tone finish, featuring Bombay White paint contrasted by Cardinal Red accents on the roof, pillars and bed trim. Chrome bumpers, bright metal details and signature fender spears reinforce its late-1950s design identity. The truck rides on 15-inch wheels with whitewall tires, complementing its period-correct appearance. The wood bed, finished with oak planks and red-painted sides, adds to its restored presentation, though minor imperfections in the paint and bodywork are noted.

Inside, the cabin continues the red-and-white theme with a vinyl bench seat, matching door panels and a red dashboard. The interior includes a vintage-style air conditioning system, red carpeting and a classic instrument cluster centered around a V-shaped speedometer.

Under the hood, the truck is powered by a 283 cubic-inch V8 engine equipped with a two-barrel carburetor. It is paired with a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, sending power to the rear wheels through 3.54 gearing. Additional upgrades include power steering, power brakes and a conversion to electronic ignition, along with a 12-volt electrical system.

The undercarriage reflects the restoration quality, showing clean, rust-free surfaces and a dual exhaust system. On the road, the truck delivers steady performance, responsive braking and clear visibility, though the radio is not currently operational.

As classic trucks continue gaining popularity among collectors, this Apache Cameo stands out as a blend of rarity, style and usability, representing a notable example from Chevrolet’s evolving pickup history. See it here.
