A fully restored 1952 Crosley Hook and Ladder Fire Truck is gaining attention in the collector market, blending automotive history with a unique origin as an amusement ride attraction. Originally created by Overland Amusements, the miniature fire truck was designed as part of a children’s ride experience, where the Crosley truck towed a themed trailer. These conversions were based on Crosley’s compact utility trucks, which were introduced as lightweight alternatives for urban deliveries and industrial use. Approximately 100 such amusement conversions were produced, with gooseneck trailer variants like this example believed to be exceptionally rare.
This particular truck has been under the care of a longtime owner for nearly two decades, during which it underwent a comprehensive frame-off restoration. The result is a meticulously detailed presentation that has earned recognition at numerous concours events. The vehicle’s exterior is finished in Fire Engine Red, accented by gold leaf lettering and period-style striping that replicate vintage fire department livery.
Powering the truck is a 44 cubic-inch overhead-valve inline four-cylinder engine, paired with a three-speed manual transmission. The compact engine, originally rated at just over 26 horsepower, reflects Crosley’s focus on efficiency and simplicity. Despite its modest output, the setup provides enough capability to tow the accompanying gooseneck trailer, which features dual rear wheels for added stability.
The trailer itself is a central feature, offering seating for more than 20 passengers on restored wooden benches. It is adorned with decorative firefighting elements, including ladders, hoses, axes, and a functioning bell, all contributing to its authentic appearance. Additional details such as a rooftop beacon light and siren further enhance the vehicle’s presentation.
Inside the cab, the truck continues its period-correct restoration with red upholstery, a matching dashboard, and a full set of functional gauges. With just 188 miles indicated, the vehicle remains in show-ready condition.
