Rare 4-Speed 1961 Impala SS With A 409 Headlines Carlisle Auctions Spring Sale

Check out their great 1960s cars.

If you love the 1960s era of automotive design then you’re probably head over heels for the Chevrolet Impala. This particular example is one built in 1961 so it has a lot of vintage design cues from that time. On top of that, the blue and white paint job is one reminiscent of a time when joy was still appreciated in cars. Under the hood is a 348 cubic inch V8 engine featuring tri-power and a four-speed manual ties everything together.

If you’d prefer a Ford, there’s the 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 which would have likely been a direct competitor to the Impala at the time. With its 406 cubic inch V8, it would have been incredibly easy to make tons of power. Of course, that’s exactly what it did with the Super Performance package. The fact it’s a California car means they’ll be little to no rust and finally the red and black interior never gets old to look at. It also helps that the odometer says it’s only been through 40,000 miles.

Don’t discount the Impalas just yet however because the last car featured here is a 1961 Impala SS. It also has a 409 cubic inch V8 and a Hurst shifter four-speed manual making it pretty fast for the era. These three American muscle cars are a perfect representation of what buyers loved in this 1960s which is exactly why you should pick the vehicles up for yourself.
