Few vehicles deliver as much smile per dollar as a Japanese Kei truck, and this yellow 1995 Mitsubishi Minicab is a charming example. It's currently up for auction on Cars & Bids with no reserve, which means it will sell to the high bidder when the clock runs out on October 7th at 1:45 PM EDT.
The Minicab is a right-hand-drive, Japanese-spec truck finished in bright yellow over a gray interior. It carries a clean Virginia title and is located in Westbury, New York. The odometer reads roughly 42,500 kilometers, or about 26,500 miles, which is remarkably low for a 31-year-old work truck that was built to be used.
Kei Truck Charm
Mitsubishi introduced the fifth-generation Minicab as both a pickup and a van in 1991. Like every Kei vehicle, it was designed to comply with Japan's strict size and engine regulations, though changes to the tax code allowed Mitsubishi to make it slightly longer than its predecessor. It was never sold in the United States, but it was hugely popular at home as both a workhorse and a leisure vehicle.
Power comes from a 657cc inline-three rated at about 51 horsepower and 41 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Those numbers won't win any drag races, but with so little mass to move and a gearbox you get to row yourself, it's the kind of truck that feels like it's going faster than it is.
Personality to Spare
This one isn't a stock fleet truck. According to the seller, the exterior wears a yellow bed liner coating, with green accents in the bed, and the wheels have been painted white. Inside, the door panels are covered in a patterned fabric, and the truck retains its vinyl upholstery and heater. The drop-down, removable bed sides are still in place, making it easy to haul whatever your weekend project requires.
The seller is representing the truck on behalf of the owner, who reportedly bought it in May 2026 and has added roughly 200 miles since. An oil and filter change was reported in June 2026, though no documentation was provided. One key and a spare tire are included in the sale.
Know Before You Bid
The seller is upfront about the Minicab's condition. There are scratches, dings, and imperfections around the exterior, along with scratches and discoloration on the interior plastics and some corrosion on underbody components. The vinyl flooring and radio are missing, and the tires carry 2016 date codes. Nothing there is surprising for a three-decade-old import, and it sets a fair expectation for a truck that's meant to be enjoyed rather than babied.
As with any imported Kei vehicle, registration rules vary by state. Some states won't register them at all, and emissions testing may be an issue in others, so buyers should confirm the requirements where they live before placing a bid.
If you're in the market for something small, cheerful, and unlike anything else in the driveway, this Minicab is worth a look. Bidding hadn't started at the time of writing, and it has no reserve, so it may be a chance to get into a Japanese import for a modest outlay.
