Lynx-Built Jaguar C-Type Recreation Heads to Broad Arrow Auction

A 1952 Jaguar C-Type recreation built by Lynx Motors is scheduled to be offered during the European online sale on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, carrying an estimate of €160,000 to €200,000. Offered from a private collection, the car represents a meticulously constructed homage to one of Jaguar’s most significant competition machines.

Lynx Motors is widely regarded for its deep roots in Jaguar restoration, having first established itself by repairing and restoring original C- and D-Type race cars. That experience later evolved into the production of highly accurate recreations, often referred to as “tool-room copies,” built using original factory blueprints and traditional coachbuilding methods associated with Jaguar’s 1950s race program.

This particular example was commissioned new by its current owner, a Belgian collector specializing in competition cars from the 1950s and 1960s. Completed in 2010, the car was built to replicate the driving character and mechanical authenticity of Jaguar’s two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning C-Type. The donor vehicle was a Jaguar Mark VII saloon, allowing the recreation to be fitted with a period-correct 3,442-cc DOHC XK straight-six engine. Power is delivered through twin SU carburetors, consistent with period specifications.

The car was finished by XK Engineering and wears British Racing Green matched to an original period hue with assistance from the Jaguar Heritage Trust. A yellow center stripe completes the classic competition appearance. At the time of completion, the bespoke build reportedly totaled £110,000, reflecting the level of craftsmanship involved.

Since completion, the C-Type recreation has seen minimal use, recording approximately 121 miles at the time of cataloging. In January 2011, it was issued an FIA Historic Technical Passport, confirming compliance with period C-Type specifications and eligibility for FIA-sanctioned historic racing. Although expired, the passport may be renewed, potentially allowing entry into major historic events.

The car is accompanied by a previous U.K. V5 registration document and is noted as being suitable for EU road registration. That flexibility could make it eligible for both historic racing and prestigious road rallies. With its low mileage, documented build, and respected construction, this Lynx-built C-Type recreation offers an opportunity to access iconic Jaguar competition history in a usable and event-eligible form.
