A distinctive 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari once owned by Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay has sold for approximately $5.9 million at RM Sotheby’s auction in Monaco, highlighting continued demand for rare hypercars with unique provenance.
The LaFerrari, one of only 499 examples produced, stands out due to its highly unusual factory-specified Signal Green exterior. The vibrant finish sets it apart from most models, which were typically delivered in more traditional Ferrari colors. Complementing the bold paintwork, the car features a contrasting black roof, silver-finished alloy wheels and yellow brake calipers, creating a striking visual combination.
Inside, the car continues its custom theme with black upholstery accented by green detailing. A personalized touch links the vehicle directly to its former owner, with the name Jamiroquai etched into the base of the steering wheel. The car was also equipped with a matching luggage set and numerous optional carbon fiber components, further enhancing its exclusivity and appeal among collectors.
Jay Kay, known for his passion for high-performance automobiles, parted with the vehicle in April 2019. At that time, the LaFerrari had recorded just over 1,800 miles. It was subsequently handled by a prominent London-based supercar dealership before eventually making its way to auction.
By the time it was cataloged for the Monaco sale, the odometer reading had increased to around 7,480 miles, indicating continued but limited use consistent with collector ownership. Despite the added mileage, the car’s rare specification and celebrity connection contributed to its strong result on the auction stage.
The sale underscores the enduring appeal of the LaFerrari as one of Ferrari’s most significant modern hypercars, particularly examples that feature unique factory customization and notable ownership history.
