A one-of-a-kind 1938 Delahaye “Pantheon” Custom, regarded as the final creation from renowned custom car builder Rick Dore, is set to cross the auction block at the Auburn Spring 2026 sale on April 25. Listed as Lot #340, the vehicle represents a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire a singular piece of automotive artistry blending classic European inspiration with modern engineering.
The Pantheon stands as the culmination of Dore’s decades-long career, during which he became known for crafting highly detailed, hand-built custom automobiles that draw heavily from the elegance of prewar French coachbuilding. His work has long been associated with meticulous craftsmanship, flowing design, and a distinctive ability to merge historical aesthetics with contemporary performance.
Built on an Art Morrison chassis, the Pantheon features a fully hand-formed aluminum body created through an intensive process that highlights traditional metalworking techniques. The design incorporates sculpted elements reminiscent of classic Delahaye styling, paired with modern execution. Key exterior components, including the grille and taillights, were individually formed, contributing to the car’s cohesive and dramatic appearance. The finish, presented in a deep Tahitian Blue, accentuates the vehicle’s sweeping lines and intricate detailing.
The custom is powered by a 5.3-liter LS V-8 engine mated to a 4L80 four-speed automatic transmission. A bespoke dual exhaust system complements the drivetrain, reinforcing the car’s modern performance capabilities beneath its vintage-inspired form. Inside, the cabin reflects a restrained yet refined approach, featuring Egyptian leather upholstery, a custom steering wheel bearing Dore’s emblem, and a centrally mounted gauge layout that echoes classic European design influences.
Since its debut at the 2025 SEMA Show, the Pantheon has drawn significant attention within the automotive community. It earned top honors at the Las Vegas Concours d’Elegance and was later recognized at the 2026 L.A. Roadster Show, solidifying its status as one of the most celebrated custom builds in recent years.
