A rare modern-era Shelby Mustang is at the center of a new Dream Giveaway promotion, offering enthusiasts a chance to win a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR, a limited-production performance car built to honor one of the most storied names in muscle car history.
The featured vehicle is a 40th Anniversary Edition finished in Colorado Red, a color closely associated with the Shelby brand. Known as the GT500KR, with KR standing for King of the Road, the model was introduced as a tribute to the original 1968 Shelby GT500KR. Ford and Shelby collaborated on the project, producing just 1,000 examples for the 2008 model year, a figure that places the car among the rarest modern Shelby Mustangs.

This particular GT500KR is numbered 163 of the 1,000 produced. Power comes from a tuned 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine rated at 540 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque. The output represented a significant increase over the standard GT500 of the same era, reinforcing the KR’s position at the top of the Shelby lineup at the time.

Every GT500KR left the factory with a package of performance and cosmetic upgrades that set it apart. Those include a unique Ford Racing calibration paired with a cold-air induction system, a short-throw shifter, and a 3.73 rear axle. Exterior details include a carbon-fiber hood with functional vents and traditional hood pins, while the interior and exterior both feature exclusive KR-specific touches.

The car offered in the giveaway has 6,000 documented original miles, a relatively low figure for a performance vehicle approaching two decades old. Its condition and limited mileage add to its appeal for collectors and late-model Shelby enthusiasts.
