Custom LS3-Powered 1983 Pontiac Firebird Heads to Auction with No Reserve

Fully custom 1983 Firebird with 480-hp LS3, Tremec five-speed, and one-off styling to cross auction block without reserve.

A highly customized 1983 Pontiac Firebird SE is slated to hit the auction block without reserve, offering collectors a rare opportunity to own a show-stopping restomod that blends classic style with modern performance.

Originally a third-generation Firebird SE, the car has been completely reimagined from bumper to bumper. At the heart of the transformation is a GM Performance Parts 6.2-liter LS3 V8 producing 480 horsepower, mated to a Tremec T5 five-speed manual transmission. The powertrain is supported by subframe connectors, a custom Ford 9-inch rear axle, and tubbed rear wheel wells that eliminate the factory rear seat but make way for massive Mickey Thompson 29x15.00R20LT tires.

Cooling is handled by a trio of electric fans—two pusher units and one large puller—while Old Air HVAC ensures comfort in the custom ivory and brown interior. The cockpit features bucket seats sourced from a 1969 Plymouth Duster, a custom dash inspired by a 1959 Chevrolet, ivory-faced Classic Instruments gauges, and a hand-built center console with a wood-rimmed steering wheel.

Visually, the Candy Red paint job is accented with detailed artwork inside and out. Pop-up headlights have been removed in favor of a sleek front end with 1989 Chevy truck lights, and the original headlight slits now glow with LED lighting. A hand-fabricated rear bumper fascia houses vertically stacked taillights sourced from another '83 Firebird.

With just over 40 years of history and only two known owners, this Firebird carries a clean CARFAX and deep Texas roots. The seller inherited the vehicle from his father, who commissioned the build and passed it down in 2022.

This bespoke build merges performance and personality, making it a standout in any collection. The no-reserve status is expected to attract strong bidding when it crosses the block. See it here.
