Matte red 1978 Corvette Silver Anniversary restomod with new interior, mechanical updates, and striking visual upgrades heads to auction.
A radically reimagined 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary edition is now available on Hagerty Marketplace, offered without reserve by its California-based owner. Originally created to commemorate the Corvette’s 25th year, this example has been extensively customized while retaining key features of its heritage.

While the original B2Z Silver Anniversary Corvettes were distinguished by a two-tone silver paint scheme, this particular car now wears a bold matte red finish and black side pipes, paired with new front valence and spoiler components for a more aggressive look. A large 25th Anniversary badge remains under the hood as a nod to its legacy.

Under the hood is the original L48 350 cubic-inch V8 engine, factory-rated at 185 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, equipped with a Rochester Quadrajet carburetor and upgraded Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers. Power is delivered through a three-speed automatic transmission. Recent maintenance includes new brakes, shocks, battery, and a fresh alignment.

Inside, nearly every surface has been replaced or upgraded. The red and black vinyl interior features new seats, carpeting, weather seals, and a modern Retro-Manufacturing Bluetooth stereo system powered by a Rockville dB12 amplifier. The glass T-tops remain intact, and vintage-style gauges—such as a 140-mph speedometer—are still in place, though the tachometer cable needs replacement.

Additional imperfections noted by the seller include a persistent fuel warning light, an emergency brake needing adjustment, and minor cosmetic flaws. Still, the car is described as “exciting to drive, sounds great, and a real head-turner.”

The seller, who acquired the car in April 2025 from its longtime previous owner, believes it to be a three-owner vehicle. With no reserve and a recent restoration blending classic cues with modern flair, this Corvette presents a unique opportunity for collectors or enthusiasts seeking a standout C3 with show-and-go appeal.
