Rare Buick GS 400 Convertible joins Hagerty Marketplace auction with fresh upgrades and a Power Tour appearance.
A striking 1968 Buick GS 400 Convertible equipped with a four-speed manual transmission is now up for grabs—offered without reserve—on Hagerty Marketplace as part of the distinguished SugarCreek Collection. The no-reserve auction includes 14 hand-picked vehicles from a private Ohio-based enthusiast with a passion for revitalizing collectible American and European classics.

This particular GS 400 convertible, one of only 2,454 produced in 1968, brings both rarity and road-readiness to the table. Finished in its factory-correct Ivory Gold Mist with a black soft top and interior, the car underwent refurbishment in 2012 and is powered by a replacement 400-cubic-inch V8 engine installed that same year. The four-speed manual Muncie gearbox adds driver engagement often missing from luxury-infused muscle cars of the era.

Performance upgrades include Flowmaster mufflers with a crossover pipe, a power-assisted front disc brake conversion, and an electric radiator fan. For comfort and convenience, the convertible sports a power-operated top, a Custom AutoSound AM/FM radio, and AutoMeter auxiliary gauges. The recent service performed by SugarCreek’s in-house restoration team includes a long list of mechanical improvements, from a rebuilt carburetor to new tires and a fixed pinion seal.
The vehicle will also take part in the 2025 Hot Rod Power Tour, giving enthusiasts a chance to preview it in person across more than 1,000 miles of travel. Included in the sale are two keys, a radio manual, and documented history detailing its ownership and restoration timeline.

While minor imperfections remain—such as cracks in the upper trunk corners—the car represents an increasingly rare opportunity to own a well-sorted Buick GS convertible from the peak of the muscle car era, now with modern driving comfort and performance.
