A 1965 Oldsmobile 4-4-2 Convertible, one of 3,468 produced for the model year, is drawing bids in a Florida auction as part of a limited February release from PJ’s Auto World. The car is currently bid to $16,000 with 11 days remaining in the sale.
Offered from the Clearwater-based dealership established in 1979, the convertible represents Oldsmobile’s early entry into the muscle car era. For 1965, the 4-4-2 package elevated the F-85 platform with a 400-cubic-inch V8 equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust. Factory ratings listed output at 345 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque. Buyers could select from manual gearboxes or a two-speed Jetaway automatic transmission.

This example is powered by a 400ci V8 bearing the #389298 designation and paired with the Jetaway automatic. An Anti-Spin rear differential helps transfer power to the rear wheels. The car retains its coil-spring suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars, a setup that was notable in the mid-1960s performance landscape.
Reportedly the subject of a body-off restoration, the convertible is finished in Target Red with a matching red vinyl interior. A black power-operated top provides contrast. Exterior details include 4-4-2 badging, body side moldings and 14-inch wheels wrapped in redline tires. The trim tag indicates a fifth week of April build at the Lansing, Michigan, assembly plant.

Inside, bucket seats flank a floor-mounted automatic shifter and center console-mounted 6,000-rpm tachometer. Additional features include a 120-mph speedometer, fuel gauge, tilt steering column, power steering, power brakes and power windows. The car also includes tinted glass, a power driver seat and power trunk release.
The sale includes keys, an owner’s manual, spare tire with cover and recent service records. The seller notes minor wear on interior brightwork. The vehicle is offered with a clean Massachusetts title. See it here.
