Cruise In Grandeur With This Restored 1931 Auburn 8-98 Phaeton

This timeless classic is the final product of a lengthy frame-off restoration.

A fine automobile manufactured by the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Company, the 1931 Auburn 8-98 Phaeton embodied American 1930s deco styling. This fine example of an 8-98 (Lot #650) is the finished product of a full frame-off restoration, and will be crossing the auction block through Lucky Car Collector Auctions. Purchased in the mid-70s, this beautiful classic started the restoration process 15 years ago and was finished by the current owner just 3 years back.

Gleaming in a deep Ebony Black complete with a Chambertin Burgundy beltline and crimson red pin stripe, this elegant automobile features a black top over a beautiful burgundy leather interior. This iconic Auburn features an all-new correct oak wood finish that took a total of five years to restore alone. This car features hood louvers, a raked windshield, dual side-mounted spares, and a boat tail rear end. This stylish ride is powered by the original Lycoming 8-cylinder engine  that is backed by a wide-ratio 3-speed manual transmission, and both have been rebuilt.

Located in Bremerton, once the restoration was finally finished, this '31 Auburn was displayed at the Grand Classic in Washington state. Thanks partially to the Great Depression, the 8-98 actually sold for $350 less than its 8-95 sedan predecessor. The sedan was priced at $995, and the speedster was given a $945 price tag.

If this elegant 1931 Auburn 8-98 Phaeton is calling your name, you can find it through Lucky Car Collector Auctions during their 2020 Fall Classic. Make sure to register to bid here, so you can take this vintage gem home for yourself. This restored ride is sure to offer fun cruising with the family while turning every head along the way. This car is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th, 2020.
