Few muscle cars wear the "gentleman's" label as comfortably as the Plymouth GTX, and this 1969 example, currently listed on Hagerty Marketplace, pairs that upscale attitude with the three-carburetor swagger of Chrysler's 440 Six Barrel. Photos and listing details courtesy of Hagerty Marketplace.

The GTX debuted in 1967 as Plymouth's premium performance model, built on the intermediate B-body and aimed at buyers who wanted real horsepower without giving up luxury touches. For 1969, it picked up subtle styling updates, including a revised grille, taillights, and side markers, while keeping the aggressive stance that made it a favorite. Standard power came from the 440ci "Super Commando" V8 rated at 375 horsepower, with the 426 Hemi available as an option. Midway through the model year, Chrysler added the 440 Six-Barrel as a lower-cost high-performance alternative to the Hemi.

Alpine White with Attitude

This GTX is finished in Alpine White with a blacked-out Air Grabber hood, red accents, and a black vinyl top, a combination that looks sharp from every angle. Inside, the black interior features vinyl bucket seats, simulated woodgrain trim on the instrument panel and doors, a tachometer, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. A modern AM/FM radio with a CD player keeps the road-trip soundtrack current.

Six Pack Muscle Under the Hood

Power comes from a 440ci V8 topped with a Six Pack induction setup and three Holley carburetors. According to the listing, the engine was balanced, blueprinted, and bored .040" over under previous ownership, and the carburetors were rebuilt. A PerTronix Ignitor III electronic ignition with a Flame-Thrower III coil has been added, and a dual exhaust system from Accurate Exhaust gives the big-block a voice the seller describes as great sounding.

Power is sent through a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic that was reportedly rebuilt in 2021, to an 8¾" rear end with a 3.55 Sure Grip differential. SSBC front disc brakes, a heavy-duty suspension package, and chrome 15" Magnum 500-style wheels wrapped in Cooper Cobra Radial G/T raised-white-letter tires round out the hardware.

Ready to Drive and Show Off

With just 11,800 miles indicated (TMU) and a clean Delaware title in the owner's name, this GTX has been with its current owner since October 2014. The seller calls it a driver that turns heads, describing a car with some patina that is mechanically sound. The listing's chassis decode confirms a St. Louis-built GTX 2-door hardtop with the 440 high-performance V8. A spare tire is included, and the listing carries a gallery of 66 photos for prospective bidders to study.

The car is located in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. As of this writing, the high bid stands at $6,500 after six bids, with the auction scheduled to close Friday, October 16, at 2:25 p.m. EDT. For anyone who has wanted a Mopar big-block with a Six Pack, an Air Grabber hood, and plenty of road presence, this one is worth a close look.
