A rough-and-tumble 1961 Chevrolet Apache C10 pickup is currently up for grabs in a no-reserve auction on Hagerty Marketplace, and with bidding still sitting well under $3,000, it's shaping up to be one of the more charming patina trucks to cross the block this month.
Introduced for 1960, Chevrolet's C/K pickup line was a genuine turning point for the truck world. A newly engineered drop-center ladder frame let the cab and body sit noticeably lower than earlier trucks, which paid off in better handling, a smoother ride, and easier access to the cab and bed. It's not much of a stretch to say these trucks laid the groundwork for the do-it-all pickups people daily drive, haul with, and play with today.
This particular example wears its age well. Finished in a wonderfully faded blue with a white roof over a white-and-gray interior, the Apache rolls on a set of black 15-inch steel wheels and still carries its rear roll pan. Under the hood is a 350ci V8 backed by a three-speed automatic, giving it plenty of easygoing torque for cruising, cars-and-coffee runs, or hauling whatever needs hauling.

The seller has also freshened up plenty of the mechanical side, with a transmission overhaul, a replaced driveshaft, a new fuel tank and pump, a fresh starter, and a rebuilt master brake cylinder with new drum-brake linings. According to the seller, the engine, transmission, and driveshaft have covered fewer than 5,000 miles since being installed, so there should be plenty of life left before this Apache needs any more mechanical attention.
Sure, there's honest wear to go with the character: the gauges need attention, there's some corrosion on the frame and undercarriage, and the paint and trim show their age. But that's exactly the appeal here. This is a truck that's already been sorted mechanically and just needs a new owner willing to enjoy the patina, tidy up the cosmetics, or take it in whatever direction they like.
The auction is running with no reserve and wraps up Tuesday, September 22, with bidding currently at $2,700 across eight bids.
