YouTube star Shmee150 takes his new Ford Mustang GTD to Circuit Paul Ricard and calls it both forgiving and brutal.
Tim Burton, better known to millions of YouTube viewers as Shmee150, has officially taken delivery of one of Ford’s most talked-about performance cars: the Mustang GTD. Known for his extensive Blue Oval collection, which includes a Ford GT and a Mustang Dark Horse, Burton put the GTD through its paces on France’s Circuit Paul Ricard before deciding whether to keep it.
The test drive quickly removed any doubt. Burton praised the GTD’s selectable drive modes and was struck by how manageable the car felt on the track. “It feels very, very forgiving,” he said, later describing it as “an absolute brute.”
Track Mode, which drops the ride height and stiffens the suspension, turned the GTD into what Burton called a “track killer.” While the lowered setup made every groove and rock on the surface more noticeable, Burton emphasized that it only added to the car’s connection with the circuit.
To test real-world usability, he also took the GTD onto public roads. There, the 800-horsepower Mustang surprised him with its composure. “Smooth, easy, comfortable,” Burton remarked, noting that while the ride is firm, it balances performance and practicality. Even at highway speeds, he felt the car was always straining to unleash its full potential.
The Mustang GTD is Ford’s most extreme street-legal Mustang yet, designed to blur the line between road and race car. Production is limited, and notable early recipients include drifting champion Vaughn Gittin Jr. and comedian Jay Leno, who received his example directly from Ford CEO Jim Farley.
For Burton, the GTD has earned its place in his collection. “It’s not going anywhere,” he confirmed after his first drives.
