A refurbished 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS tribute is drawing attention in the classic car market with a blend of vintage muscle styling and modern performance upgrades.
The coupe, currently offered for sale in Mesa, Arizona, pays homage to one of Chevrolet’s most recognizable muscle cars while incorporating updated mechanical components and technology. The Chevelle nameplate was produced by Chevrolet from 1964 through 1977 and became one of the defining models of the American muscle car era during the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Originally delivered in Medium Turquoise Metallic, this example was repainted Cortez Silver during a later refurbishment. The updated exterior retains several signature Chevelle design cues including black striping, a black grille and taillight panel, and a cowl-induction hood. Additional details include T3 headlights, dual side mirrors, hideaway windshield wipers and chrome bumpers that maintain the car’s classic appearance.
Inside, the cabin features black vinyl upholstery covering both the front bucket seats and the rear bench. The interior combines traditional muscle car styling with modern amenities. A locking center console, lap belts and a floor-mounted horseshoe shifter preserve the period look, while upgrades such as Vintage Air air conditioning and a retro-style AM/FM radio with Kicker speakers bring modern comfort.
Instrumentation has also been modernized with Dakota Digital RTX gauges, including a 120-mph speedometer and an 8,000-rpm tachometer, along with supporting readouts for oil pressure, fuel level and temperature. The digital odometer shows just over 1,800 miles since the vehicle’s build. A black three-spoke Momo Prototipo steering wheel sits on a tilting steering column.
Under the hood, the Chevelle is powered by a replacement 454 cubic-inch V8 engine equipped with a Speedmaster aluminum high-rise intake and Billet Specialties aluminum valve covers. A Holley EFI Terminator X Max Stealth 4150 system was installed in December 2025 to provide electronic fuel injection. Supporting hardware includes an electric fuel pump, a large aluminum radiator with dual SPAL electric fans, HEI ignition and a Delphi MAP sensor. Exhaust flows through Doug headers connected to a dual exhaust system.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a built 4L60E four-speed automatic transmission paired with a Ford 9-inch rear axle fitted with a limited-slip differential.
The suspension system has also been upgraded with Aldan coilovers at both the front and rear. Steering improvements include a Borgeson steering gearbox and updated steering coupler components added in October 2025.
The Chevelle rides on 18-inch American Racing wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 performance tires, measuring 245/40ZR18 in front and 285/40ZR18 at the rear. Braking is handled by power-assisted front and rear brakes, supplemented by a CPP brake hose kit upgrade.

According to the seller, more than $28,000 in recent receipts accompany the vehicle. The Chevelle is listed with a clean Arizona title and an asking price of $99,995, positioning it as a restored muscle car tribute that blends classic design with modern performance enhancements.
