What may be the largest hidden barn find in the United States is finally seeing the light of day — and heading to auction. After decades of quiet accumulation, Alabama collector Greg Rusk’s massive assortment of classic vehicles is now being sold through Hagerty Marketplace, marking one of the most significant classic car liquidations in recent history.
Sprawled across several buildings, Rusk’s private collection has grown so large he reportedly lost count of both the cars and the storage facilities. Estimates place the total at around 1,300 vehicles, ranging from rare muscle cars to luxury sedans and even microcars. The scale alone makes this one of the largest privately held automotive collections ever unearthed.
The lineup is staggering in both size and variety: 259 Chevrolets, 109 Fords, 105 Cadillacs, 96 Pontiacs, 55 Mopars, 48 Lincolns, 35 Buicks, 24 Oldsmobiles, and a dozen Volkswagen Beetles. Adding to the diversity are imported models from Alfa Romeo, Porsche, and other European brands. While some vehicles show their age after years in outdoor storage, many have been preserved indoors and remain surprisingly complete.
Hagerty Marketplace is handling the sale under the banner The Generous Collection, with every vehicle offered at no reserve. The first group of roughly 200 classics began auctioning in October 2025, with additional rounds scheduled to move the remaining inventory.
Standout examples include a 1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster, a 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe, and a limited-production 1995 Pontiac Firebird SLP Firehawk. The collection even contains eccentric entries like a King Midget Model III and an LS1-swapped 1986 Mazda RX-7.
For collectors, this sale represents a rare opportunity to claim forgotten automotive history — from American icons to obscure curiosities — all born from one man’s lifelong passion for cars.
