A new McLaren W1 is heading to collectors, but this one fits on a desk rather than in a garage.
Amalgam Collection has unveiled a 1:8 scale replica of the McLaren W1 hypercar, developed in direct collaboration with McLaren Automotive engineers in Woking, England. The handcrafted model is designed to mirror the real vehicle as closely as possible, using original CAD data, factory paint codes and authentic material specifications supplied by the automaker.

Each replica measures 22 inches in length and requires approximately 300 hours of hand assembly. The overall development process spanned more than 3,000 hours to achieve the final result. Functional elements include scissor doors, a remote-controlled rear wing that simulates the car’s active aerodynamics and a fully detailed interior created without design compromises.
The only major omission is the powertrain. The full-size W1, successor to the McLaren P1, features a hybrid system pairing a new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an E-module that incorporates a radial flux electric motor and motor control unit. The combined output reaches 1,258 horsepower and 988 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful McLaren to date. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission with E-reverse and an electronic differential. The W1 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and carries an electronically limited top speed of 217 mph.
The launch edition model is finished in Papaya Spark, the same color used when the W1 debuted on Oct. 6, 2024, marking 50 years since Emerson Fittipaldi secured McLaren’s first Formula 1 Drivers’ and Constructors’ championships in 1974. Since then, McLaren has claimed 23 Formula 1 world titles, including 13 Drivers’ and 10 Constructors’ championships.

Production of the scale model will be limited to 199 units, fewer than the 399 full-size W1 hypercars planned. Pricing begins at 14,995 pounds, roughly $20,241, with Tailor Made commissions offered at 20,995 pounds, or about $28,330, built to match an owner’s exact vehicle specification. Completed models are scheduled to ship within three to five days after payment is received.
