Massive Alabama Barn Find Featuring 1,300 Classic Cars Finally Up for Sale

In rural Alabama, tucked away in a series of unassuming metal buildings, sits one of the most staggering private car collections ever discovered. For years, it was little more than a rumor among classic car hunters. Now, the secret is out — and the entire collection is for sale.

Owned by longtime enthusiast and businessman Greg Rusk, the cache is believed to contain more than 1,300 vehicles, spanning decades of American automotive history. The scope is so vast that even Rusk reportedly lost count of how many cars — and storage buildings — he owns.

The inventory reads like a cross-section of mid-century Americana: 259 Chevrolets, 109 Fords, 105 Cadillacs, 96 Pontiacs, 55 Mopars, 48 Lincolns, 35 Buicks, 24 Oldsmobiles, and a dozen Volkswagen Beetles, along with a handful of European exotics including Alfa Romeos and Porsches. Some cars have sat untouched for decades, while others were preserved under cover, waiting for their turn at restoration.

Now, the collection — dubbed “The Generous Collection” — is being auctioned through Hagerty Marketplace, with no reserve pricing. The first wave of about 200 vehicles went live in October 2025, with more rounds planned to follow until the full inventory finds new owners.

Among the standout pieces: a 1953 Jaguar XK120 Roadster, previously valued at $165,000; a 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Aerocoupe, one of the most collectible NASCAR-inspired models; and a 1995 Pontiac Firebird SLP Firehawk, one of just 671 built. Other surprises include an LS1-swapped Mazda RX-7 and a King Midget Model III microcar.

For car collectors, the Alabama sale represents more than just another auction — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a piece of hidden history. From barn dust to bidding wars, the largest known “barn find” in the state is finally stepping into the spotlight.
