HWA has officially begun handing over production examples of its EVO super saloon to customers, and chassis number one could not have found a more fitting home. The car has been delivered to noted collector Prof. Dr. Friedhelm Loh, joining the celebrated Loh Collection at the Nationales Automuseum in Germany. Photos and background on the handover come courtesy of HWA, whose full announcement and hi-res gallery can be viewed through the automaker's own release.

The handover took place during an exclusive ceremony at the museum, with Prof. Dr. Loh joined by Simon-Markus Loh, HWA founder Hans Werner Aufrecht, and HWA CEO Martin Marx. Fittingly, chassis number one wears a deep Blue-Black Metallic finish as a direct nod to the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II, the car that inspired the entire EVO project. It now sits on permanent display alongside two of the collection's existing EVO II examples, chassis numbers one and five hundred, giving visitors a rare side-by-side look at where the story began and where it stands today.

HWA also confirmed that chassis number two has already found a home with Willibald Dörflinger, principal shareholder of HWA AG, marking the true start of series deliveries rather than a single symbolic handover. Speaking at the event, HWA CEO Martin Marx called the moment a milestone the entire team looks back on with pride, noting that what began as a design study a little over two years ago has grown into a fully engineered and homologated performance car now reaching real owners.

The event also gave HWA a chance to show off the car's origins. Development prototype PT01, now acquired by Simon-Markus Loh, was pulled from testing duty for the display. That car carried much of the validation workload during development, including work with Bosch Engineering, and it even ran demonstration laps at the ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring in 2025 before its testing career wound down.

Also joining the display is the HWA EVO.R, the motorsport-focused version of the road car, wearing the livery of HWA partners SONAX and Kärcher after competing in the 2026 ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring. That race car is now the basis for a customer track version, the EVO R, aimed at owners who want the hardware without a competition license. Rounding out the display is Klaus Ludwig's 1992 DTM championship-winning car, a pairing that links HWA's earliest motorsport success to its newest road-going creation. The full six-car exhibition opens to the public on July 22, marking the third anniversary of the Nationales Automuseum's Loh Collection.

The road-going HWA EVO is built as a faithful reinterpretation of the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 EVO II, developed almost entirely in-house by a team of more than 275 specialists at HWA's Affalterbach headquarters, and limited to just 100 examples worldwide. Given how closely the EVO.R mirrors its street counterpart, the changes needed to turn it into a race car were relatively modest, focused mainly on an FIA-spec safety cage, a homologated seat with a six-point harness, a fire suppression system, and a more aggressive aerodynamic package. All of it traces back to the same story: a small German engineering house turning a tribute concept into real, deliverable cars. Full details, additional photography, and HWA's own account of the handover are available directly from HWA.
