Five iconic BMW Art Cars, including David Hockney’s 850 CSi, will headline the 2025 Goodwood Revival as part of a world tour.
The 2025 Goodwood Revival will provide a rare chance to see five of BMW’s celebrated Art Cars, as the collection makes a stop on its global 50th anniversary world tour. The cars will be displayed during the Earls Court Motor Show portion of the September 12–14 event, offering visitors a glimpse of where art and engineering meet.

Since its inception in 1975, the BMW Art Car program has invited internationally renowned artists to use BMW models as canvases, resulting in 20 rolling sculptures that fuse automotive design with contemporary art. The Goodwood Revival display will include contributions from some of the program’s most notable figures: Frank Stella, Roy Lichtenstein, Ernst Fuchs, David Hockney, and Jeff Koons.
Among the highlights is David Hockney’s 1995 BMW 850 CSi, a production-based model reimagined to reveal the car’s “inner workings.” The British artist painted outlines of mechanical details and even a driver, inviting viewers to look beneath the surface of the coupe.
Also featured is the 1976 BMW 3.0 CSL by Frank Stella, whose grid-based black-and-white design drew inspiration from the car’s technical structure. Roy Lichtenstein’s 1977 BMW 320i Turbo follows, with his signature comic book-style dots and dramatic landscape effects. Ernst Fuchs’ “Fire Fox on a Hare Hunt” BMW 635 CSi from 1982 represents the first Art Car created from a standard production model. Rounding out the selection is Jeff Koons’ 2010 BMW M3 GT2, a racing machine covered in vibrant, energetic streaks of color that reflect the motion and power of motorsport.

The Goodwood Revival appearance underscores BMW’s commitment to cultural engagement, blending automotive innovation with artistic expression. For enthusiasts and art lovers alike, the exhibit offers a rare opportunity to see these landmark works in one place.
