The purpose-built Chevrolet Performance machine, offered by Collectible Motorcar of Atlanta with an asking price of $99,900, carries the legendary COPO designation, a name deeply rooted in Chevrolet’s high-performance history. Originally associated with the Central Office Production Order program of the late 1960s, COPO models became known for delivering uncompromising drag-strip performance directly from the factory.

Modern COPO Camaros continue that tradition with limited-production exclusivity and race-focused engineering. Unlike conventional production Camaros modified for competition after leaving the factory, the COPO was designed from the beginning as a dedicated drag racing vehicle.

Powering this example is a naturally aspirated 427 cubic-inch LSX V8 engine built around Chevrolet Performance’s LSX architecture. The engine is paired with a race-prepared automatic transmission and a drivetrain engineered specifically for repeated hard launches and quarter-mile durability.

The setup includes a heavy-duty driveshaft and a 9-inch Ford rear end fitted with 4.57 gears, a combination aimed at maximizing acceleration and traction. Long-tube race headers, Holley induction components and a purpose-built exhaust system further reinforce the car’s drag racing mission.

Finished in bright blue with black COPO graphics and white accent striping, the Camaro carries unmistakable factory race-car styling. Exterior details include a raised cowl hood, Chevrolet Performance graphics, a rear-mounted parachute system and adjustable wheelie bars. Lightweight Weld drag wheels wrapped in Hoosier front runners and massive rear slicks complete the aggressive stance.

Inside, the cabin remains focused entirely on competition. The stripped interior features a full roll cage, racing seat, safety harness, dedicated COPO controls and race instrumentation. A factory-style dashboard remains in place, but nearly every element inside the cockpit is designed with performance and safety in mind.

The suspension and chassis setup further separate the COPO from standard street-going Camaros. Strange coilovers, Strange brakes and a solid rear axle configuration are paired with drag-specific suspension geometry and adjustable rear hardware intended to improve stability and weight transfer under acceleration.

Supporting documentation included with the vehicle helps confirm its authenticity as a factory-built Chevrolet Performance race car, an important detail for collectors given the limited nature of the COPO program.

With its combination of factory racing pedigree, serious mechanical hardware and collector appeal, the 2020 Camaro COPO represents a modern interpretation of Chevrolet’s drag racing legacy while maintaining the unmistakable spirit that made the original COPO cars legendary.
