A milestone Corvette from the final years of the C5 generation is now available through Hagerty Marketplace as part of The Gateway Collection February. This 2003 Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition coupe is offered by Gateway Classic Cars and represents one of the limited-production models created to commemorate five decades of America’s sports car.
The 2003 model year marked the penultimate chapter of the C5 generation, which ran from 1997 through 2004. Powered by the 5.7-liter LS1 V8 rated at 350 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the C5 helped redefine Corvette performance with modern engineering and improved refinement. This example pairs the LS1 with a four-speed automatic transmission featuring overdrive and has traveled approximately 54,700 miles since new.
Built on a hydroformed frame designed for increased rigidity, the C5 also featured an independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes to balance handling and ride quality. Chevrolet incorporated innovative elements such as a sound-muffling balsa wood and glass-fiber floor structure, underscoring the generation’s blend of performance and technology.
This particular coupe is one of only 4,085 examples equipped with the 50th Anniversary Edition package. It is finished in Anniversary Red with Shale leather upholstery and embroidered headrests. Special crossed-flags badging, 50th Anniversary floor mats, and color-coordinated aluminum wheels distinguish the commemorative model. The car retains its optional 2002 Indianapolis 500 pace car graphics, marking Corvette’s return as Indy 500 pace car for the first time since 1978.
Standard equipment for the 1SC package included Magnetic Selective Ride Control suspension, a head-up display, telescoping steering column with memory functions, and auto-dimming mirrors with automatic headlights. This example also features a removable targa top and rides on wheels now fitted with Pirelli tires.
