Tommy Trabue Collection Without Reserve at Amelia Island Auctions

Gooding Christie's has announced the Tommy Trabue Collection as a featured offering for its 16th annual Amelia Island Auctions, scheduled for March 5 and March 6 at the Omni Amelia Island Resort. The group comprises 27 vehicles from the 1950s and 1960s, all to be sold without reserve, and centers on historically significant examples from Porsche and Alfa Romeo.

The collection reflects decades of careful assembly by Thomas “Tommy” Trabue, a vintage racer and entrepreneur whose interest in European sports cars began while traveling abroad in the 1960s. That early exposure led to the purchase and hand restoration of a Porsche 356 SC Cabriolet in 1968, setting the foundation for what would later become a focused and competition-oriented collection. By the early 1980s, Trabue expanded his acquisitions while actively participating in vintage racing, shaping a group defined by period correctness and documented motorsport history.

Among the Alfa Romeos, the centerpiece is a 1965 Giulia TZ, one of 112 built, carrying Zagato coachwork and extensive European competition history that includes dozens of races, rallies, and hill climbs during the 1960s. Two Giulietta SZ models further anchor the Alfa lineup, including an early aluminum-bodied example delivered new to noted privateer racer Harry Theodoracopulos and a later Coda Tronca version campaigned in historic events. Additional Alfa offerings include a Giulietta Sprint Veloce Alleggerita with direct ties to the 1956 1000 Miglia and a Giulia Sprint GTA prepared by Conrero.

Porsche entries are led by a 1969 911 GT-S, one of only 10 pre-series factory-built examples used for testing and development before being sold to a South American racing driver. Other highlights include an early 911 modified by the factory for competition and a short-wheelbase 911 S restored to its original Bahama Yellow specification. Several Porsche 356 models round out the offering, including a highly original 356 A Super Coupe and a rare orange-finished 356 C Coupe retained by a single family for decades.

The Tommy Trabue Collection will cross the block in its entirety during the 2026 Amelia Island Auctions, with all cars offered without reserve.
