Mercedes-Benz has revealed a concept car that looks as if it rolled straight out of a time machine — one traveling from both the past and the future. Unveiled Tuesday, the Vision Iconic is the German automaker’s latest all-electric concept vehicle, blending Art Deco-inspired styling with the latest advancements in EV and autonomous technology.
The Vision Iconic’s design pays homage to Mercedes’ golden age of the 1930s and ’40s, when long, flowing coupes defined automotive sophistication. With its sweeping proportions, sculpted fenders, and illuminated front grille, the car reimagines those classic shapes for a zero-emission era. The oversized grille, flanked by distinctive three-star headlights, glows like a modern-day interpretation of elegance, while a sloping roofline and vented side panels emphasize aerodynamic grace.
Visually, the Vision Iconic shares DNA with the earlier Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 concept, but it’s even more refined. Minimalist taillights, intricate chrome accents, and an elongated silhouette complete the dramatic look.
Inside, the Vision Iconic’s cabin is more art installation than cockpit. Instead of high-tech touchscreens, Mercedes opted for analog instrumentation — a deliberate nod to vintage motoring. Plush velvet seating for two replaces traditional buckets, creating the feel of a private lounge. The four-spoke steering wheel and tactile controls further highlight the blend of heritage and restraint.
While Mercedes has kept technical details under wraps, the concept includes several futuristic touches. Its exterior incorporates thin solar modules capable of generating enough energy for roughly 7,450 miles of driving per year in sunny climates. A steer-by-wire system and Level 4 autonomous driving capability round out the vehicle’s cutting-edge ambitions.
The Vision Iconic may never reach production, but its purpose is clear: to preview a design language where timeless beauty meets tomorrow’s electric luxury.
