A professionally built and officially licensed 1967 Eleanor Mustang, modeled after the hero car from the 2000 film Gone in 60 Seconds, is slated to cross the Mecum auction block in mid-January. The fastback carries the authorized Eleanor body plate and emblems, confirming its connection to the franchise that elevated the modified Mustang into a global pop-culture symbol.
This example began life as a 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback before undergoing a full transformation that centers on a Keith Craft–built 408-cubic-inch Windsor V8. The engine features aftermarket internals, performance cylinder heads, electronic fuel injection, and headers feeding a dual exhaust system. Output is delivered through a Tremec T56 six-speed manual and a Ford 9-inch rear end, giving the car a modernized driveline intended to handle the engine’s increased capability.

Supporting systems were updated as well. Adjustable coilovers at both ends provide improved control, while four-wheel power disc brakes handle stopping duties. Exterior equipment includes billet hardware, 16-inch Team III wheels and BF Goodrich tires, maintaining the distinctive stance associated with Eleanor builds.
The interior has also been thoroughly reworked with black leather upholstery, front bucket seats fitted with harnesses, and a full suite of contemporary comforts. AutoMeter gauges, air conditioning from Classic Auto, a touchscreen stereo and a wood-rimmed steering wheel blend classic styling with modern convenience. A certificate of authenticity accompanies the car, verifying its licensed status.

The Eleanor name carries a long history, beginning with the 1974 film by H. B. Halicki, which featured modified 1971 Mustangs. The 2000 remake popularized the 1967-style fastback through a fleet of specially constructed replicas, only a handful of which were fully functional. One of those cars sold for $1 million more than a decade ago, fueling continued interest in high-quality tribute builds.
With its documented licensing, extensive performance upgrades and cinematic lineage, this 1967 Eleanor Mustang enters the Mecum sale as a standout offering for collectors seeking a modernized take on one of film’s most recognizable muscle cars.
