Los Angeles-based ICON 4x4 has reached a milestone in its pickup truck program, completing its 30th Thriftmaster restomod with a specially finished Old School Edition build. The commemorative truck underscores how far the company has pushed a platform that began life as one of Chevrolet’s most utilitarian postwar vehicles.

ICON opened its doors in 2006 and quickly became known for applying factory-level engineering and premium materials to classic four-wheel-drive vehicles. While early attention focused on icons like the Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser and the Ford Bronco, customer demand eventually shifted toward Chevrolet’s Advance Design pickups, marketed from 1947 through 1953 under the Thriftmaster name.
The company delivered its first official Thriftmaster build in 2020 with the launch of its Old School Edition. Thirty builds later, ICON’s latest example reimagines the once-economical inline-six work truck as a high-performance street machine, while preserving its original proportions and character.
Power comes from a 6.2-liter E-ROD LS3 V8 producing 440 horsepower, a modest increase over ICON’s standard TR specification. The engine is paired with an automatic transmission featuring overdrive, improving both drivability and long-term durability. Beneath the body sits an Art Morrison Enterprises chassis with four-wheel independent suspension, a tunable GT sport front sway bar, and a Strange Dana 60 rear end. Eighteen-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires complete the modernized mechanical package.

Inside, the cabin features hand-stitched leather seating, leather-trimmed wool rugs, and a chocolate brown Alcantara headliner. Vintage-style Dakota Digital gauges with LED backlighting maintain period aesthetics while adding modern functionality. The truck bed is finished in White Oak with stainless steel rails and CNC-machined, rotating tie-downs.
ICON Thriftmaster commissions start at $225,000, with highly customized builds such as this one likely exceeding $300,000.
