Guards Red Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package Sells for $3.2 Million

A 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder equipped with the Weissach Package has sold for $3.2 million, highlighting the rapid rise in values for Porsche’s limited-production hybrid hypercar. Finished in Guards Red, the car represents a significant jump from its original sticker price and reflects the continued strength of top-tier modern collectibles.

When new, the Weissach Package-equipped 918 Spyder carried a base MSRP of $929,000. The original owner added several factory options that pushed the total higher, including a front axle lift system, electric comfort heating, color-to-sample piping, and more than $13,000 in custom tailoring options. Those additions brought the original purchase price well beyond the base figure, though still far below its recent sale price.

Market observers increasingly view the 918 Spyder as a long-term investment-grade hypercar. With values already well above triple the original MSRP, projections suggest prices could continue climbing in the coming years. The model now trades closer to Ferrari LaFerrari territory and has moved well beyond the McLaren P1 in secondary-market valuations.

The 918 Spyder occupies a unique position in Porsche’s lineup. While modern performance cars such as the latest 911 Turbo S can rival its acceleration figures on paper, the 918 remains Porsche’s fastest-accelerating production car to date. Its appeal lies not only in performance but also in its limited production, complex hybrid engineering, and status as one of the defining cars of its era.

This particular example features Porsche Active Aerodynamics, a back-up camera, passenger-side charging port, LED headlights, and staggered 20- and 21-inch Satin Platinum magnesium wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Acid Green-painted brake calipers visually signal the car’s hybrid system.

Inside, the car is fitted with black leather-trimmed carbon fiber seats, a Burmester sound system, Guards Red headrest embroidery, navigation, dual-zone climate control, and a plaque identifying it as chassis number 221. Only 300 units of the 918 Spyder were produced for the U.S. market.

Power comes from a mid-mounted 4.6-liter V8 paired with two electric motors, delivering a combined 875 horsepower and 944 pound-feet of torque. Performance figures include a 2.5-second sprint to 60 mph, a top speed of 214 mph, and quarter-mile capability in the nine-second range.

While newer cars may surpass it in straight-line speed, the 918 Spyder’s significance extends far beyond raw numbers, helping explain why this example commanded a $3.2 million result.
