Mopar machines clash in a quarter-mile showdown, with the legendary Black Ghost proving quickest among Dodge’s modern muscle elite.
In a rare all-Mopar matchup at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a trio of high-powered Dodge muscle cars squared off in a series of dragstrip battles that proved the brand’s fire-breathing legacy is alive and well—even after production ceased in December 2023.
The event, captured by the Wheels YouTube channel, showcased Dodge’s modern legends: the 1,025-horsepower Challenger SRT Demon 170, a factory-widebody Charger Hellcat, and a modified "Black Ghost" Challenger inspired by the 1970s Detroit street racing icon.
The opening race saw the Demon 170, Dodge’s final word on factory drag cars, line up against a burgundy Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat. The Demon was granted a rolling head start and still managed to run the quarter-mile in 10.17 seconds, leaving the Charger trailing at 12.38. It was a clean victory, but not the most spectacular run ever seen from a Demon 170, which can dip into the 8s under ideal conditions.
That show-stealing moment belonged to the Black Ghost—an 807-horsepower 2023 Challenger Hellcat widebody modified and driven by well-known drag racing influencer Demonology. In a second matchup, the blacked-out coupe squared off against a green Charger and laid down a blistering 8.69-second pass at 161 mph, besting the Charger's still-impressive 9.1-second run at 151 mph.
The final duel was a sibling rivalry: two Demon 170s, one in white and the other in purple. In a wheelie-filled faceoff, both delivered strong performances, but the purple Challenger edged out a win with a 9.28-second time against the white car’s 9.79.
While Dodge’s LX platform may have sunset, these runs prove its street and strip legacy remains untouchable. Enthusiasts aren’t just preserving the brand’s heritage—they're pushing it to new limits.
