Bring a Trailer, the largest online auction platform for collector cars, is expanding its presence in the United Kingdom as part of a broader international growth strategy. The San Francisco-based company, founded in 2007, is increasing its commitment to the British market following a series of successful UK-based transactions and rising interest from local buyers and sellers.
The platform is introducing a network of local partners to support its operations in the UK, aiming to provide hands-on services for sellers. Among the first is Sports Purpose, a Porsche-focused business based at Bicester Heritage in Oxfordshire. The partnership is designed to offer assistance with vehicle inspections, photography and listing preparation, helping sellers present their cars effectively to a global audience. Another partner, Chase Classics in Dorset, is also part of the initial rollout, with additional UK-based partners expected to be announced later.
Bring a Trailer has grown significantly from its origins as an automotive blog, evolving into a major digital marketplace for collector vehicles. In 2025, the platform generated more than $1.7 billion in sales, marking its fourth consecutive year exceeding $1 billion. Its listings span a wide range of vehicles, from high-value supercars to more accessible enthusiast models, with approximately half of all sales closing at relatively modest price points.
The company conducted 49,486 auctions last year and reported an 81% sell-through rate, supported by a community of more than 1.65 million registered users worldwide. Its auction format emphasizes transparency, with each listing accompanied by detailed descriptions and an open comment section where users can engage, ask questions and share insights.
To better serve UK users, the platform has introduced features such as currency conversion for British pounds and euros, helping bidders clearly understand pricing. Auction fees remain straightforward, with a flat listing cost for sellers and a capped buyer’s fee structure that differs from traditional auction houses.
Each auction runs for seven days and remains accessible to a global audience around the clock. A rolling countdown system ensures competitive bidding in the final moments, extending the auction when new bids are placed near closing time.
With its expanded UK presence, Bring a Trailer is positioning itself to further connect British collectors with its international marketplace while maintaining its focus on community-driven engagement and transparent sales.
