A 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR widebody, one of the most exclusive modern Shelby models, is scheduled to cross the auction block at Mecum’s Kansas City sale in December 2025. The GT500KR nameplate, short for “King of the Road,” has appeared only a handful of times in Mustang history, each run produced in limited numbers and aimed squarely at collectors seeking top-tier performance and distinctive styling.
This particular example carries CSM number 20KR0002 and has accumulated just 445 miles since new, underscoring its appeal to buyers looking for a near-factory-fresh modern Shelby. It is further distinguished as one of only two produced for 2020 finished in Kona Blue and paired with the Carbon Fiber Track Pack, adding another layer of exclusivity to an already uncommon variant.

The exterior showcases a series of features unique to the KR specification. Painted white stripes contrast sharply with the Kona Blue finish, while a carbon fiber hood, front splitter, rear diffuser and a Gurney flap — exclusive to the GT500KR — contribute both function and visual character. The car rides on black forged light-alloy wheels, with the original carbon fiber wheels and tires included in the sale.
Inside, the cabin features the Technology Package along with Shelby KR floor mats. The vehicle also comes with a factory owner’s kit, documentation and an indoor car cover, offering the complete presentation expected from a collectible late-model Shelby.
Under the hood, the supercharged 5.2-liter Predator V8 is equipped with a Shelby by Borla cat-back exhaust and an upgraded supercharger, producing 900 horsepower. Power is delivered through a Tremec seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, working with a tuned MagneRide suspension to manage the output.
With its limited production, rare color combination and extensive performance upgrades, this GT500KR widebody represents a compelling opportunity for collectors when it rolls across the Mecum stage later this year.
