A freshly updated 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS, featuring its original high-performance 396-cubic-inch V8 engine, is now available without reserve—a compelling opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of classic American muscle.
The 1969 model year marked the final evolution of the first-generation Camaro, introducing a bolder, more aggressive appearance. With squared-off wheel openings, a pointed grille, and flared quarter panels, the car took on a more muscular stance. The SS, or Super Sport, variant elevated both performance and style, with a functional heavy-duty suspension, wider wheels, and power front disc brakes.
This example, built at GM’s Van Nuys, California plant in January 1969, is believed to retain its factory-original L78 396/375-horsepower engine, now rebuilt and fitted with a solid-lifter camshaft, rectangle-port heads, a dual-plane intake, and a four-barrel carburetor. It’s paired with what is believed to be the original three-speed automatic transmission, delivering a factory-rated 415 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels.
Cosmetically, the car has been refinished in white with black sport stripes, contrasting a new red interior. Originally painted Fathom Green with Midnight Green upholstery, the transformation enhances its visual impact. It rides on 18-inch American Racing Torq-Thrust II chrome wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich tires and features a cowl-induction hood—true to the SS identity.
Inside, the Camaro retains a 140-mph speedometer and fuel gauge, augmented with aftermarket auxiliary gauges for oil pressure, temperature, and voltage. While the car lacks air conditioning and a functioning radio, it comes with an original spare tire and keys.
The undercarriage has been restored, sealed, and refinished, highlighting the care taken to preserve and present this American icon.
