A meticulously restored 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4-4-2 Convertible is drawing national attention ahead of its appearance at the Raleigh Classic Auction in Zebulon, North Carolina. One of only 1,171 examples built for that model year, the Sunfire Yellow convertible represents the final chapter of Oldsmobile’s golden muscle car era.

The car is part of a special offering from The Raleigh Classic Collection, known for curating top-tier, low-mileage, and historically significant vehicles. This particular 4-4-2 comes with extensive documentation, including its original build sheet, Protect-O-Plate, and registration records from the original owner, who purchased the car new in Sacramento, California, in 1972.

Originally owned by Teresa A. Powell for over three decades, the convertible remained in California until undergoing a comprehensive restoration in 2016. The work, handled by Thornton Muscle Cars in Pennsylvania, included a full drivetrain rebuild and complete cosmetic renewal in the original factory color. The result is a show-quality finish and mechanical precision that has since earned national recognition, including a Senior National First Prize Award from the Antique Automobile Club of America.

Under the hood sits a rebuilt 350-cubic-inch Oldsmobile Rocket V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The car features the W-29 4-4-2 Appearance and Handling Package, adding a heavy-duty suspension, unique grille and hood design, dual exhaust, and 14x7-inch wheels with period-correct Goodyear Polyglas tires. Inside, the white bucket-seat interior is complemented by a center console, sport steering wheel, and air conditioning.

Offered with just over 16,000 miles since restoration, this 4-4-2 combines authenticity, rarity, and preservation. With 16 bids already placed and the auction scheduled to end November 13, it stands as a standout piece for collectors seeking a true example of American muscle heritage. See it here.
