A highly original 1973 Ford Mustang Mach 1 with a single-owner history is being offered as a project car for $15,000.
Finished in Blue Glow with a black vinyl interior, the fastback Mustang shows just over 66,000 miles and remains largely unchanged from its factory configuration. The car is powered by the optional Q-code 351 cubic-inch Cobra Jet V8, the top engine choice available for the 1973 model year. The engine is paired with an automatic transmission and equipped with factory air conditioning, power steering and power brakes.
The Mustang was originally purchased new in Illinois and remained there until 1978, when the original owner relocated to Orlando, Florida, bringing the car along. It has stayed with that same owner since new, adding to its documented history. The sale is expected to include original paperwork such as the bill of sale, owner’s manual and warranty card.
While the Mach 1 is described as an excellent project candidate, much of the vehicle retains its factory components. The paint is reported to be mostly original, and the interior remains intact, including the dash, gauge cluster, headliner and seat upholstery. The only noted interior issue is wear to the driver’s seat bottom cushion, which requires repair.
The car continues to run and drive. The carburetor has been replaced, and it currently wears a chrome open-element air cleaner, though the original air cleaner is included and stored in the trunk. The original spare tire also remains in place. The air conditioning compressor and brackets have been removed but are included with the sale.
The Mustang rides on aluminum wheels supplied by the owner. A previously shown set of black wheels has been removed. The tires are an older set of BF Goodrich Radial T/A models and are considered serviceable for driving.
As one of the final years of the first-generation Mustang and equipped with the range-topping Cobra Jet engine, this largely untouched Mach 1 presents an opportunity for enthusiasts seeking a documented, one-owner classic with strong originality and restoration potential.
