No-Reserve 1968 Ford Torino GT SportsRoof Highlights The Generous Collection Auction

A 1968 Ford Torino GT SportsRoof joins Alabama’s Generous Collection auction, offering classic muscle style and a charitable legacy.

A 1968 Ford Torino GT SportsRoof is among the more striking entries in The Generous Collection, a no-reserve sale featuring over 200 classic vehicles gathered by the late Alabama businessman and philanthropist Greg Rusk. Offered through Broad Arrow Auctions, the collection reflects decades of Rusk’s passion for automobiles and his generosity toward his local community.

The Torino GT debuted in 1968 as part of Ford’s redesigned intermediate lineup, taking over from the Fairlane badge and positioning itself as a stylish, performance-minded alternative to the Chevrolet Chevelle SS and Pontiac GTO. The GT trim offered several body styles, but the fastback—or “SportsRoof”—stood out with its aerodynamic silhouette and sporty presence.

This particular example is finished in Candyapple Red with a dark red vinyl interior and is powered by a 302-cubic-inch V8 paired with a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. Rated at 210 horsepower, the engine provided a strong balance between performance and reliability, while the GT package added visual flair with unique badging, racing-style stripes, and an available hood scoop.

Like all cars in The Generous Collection, this Torino has emerged from long-term static storage and will require mechanical sorting before returning to the road. The listing notes faded paint, a dent in the right front fender, and expected wear from years of inactivity, but the car remains a solid foundation for restoration.

Collectors and enthusiasts can appreciate the Torino’s role in late-’60s American muscle car history—especially in fastback form, which became an icon in NASCAR and on the street. With its sleek design and small-block V8, this GT represents both Ford’s competitive spirit and the legacy of a collector who built his garage around generosity and community.

All cars from The Generous Collection will be sold without reserve through Broad Arrow Auctions in October.
