Modified 1968 Pontiac Firebird With Corvette-Sourced 350 V8 Heads to Auction

A 1968 Pontiac Firebird blending first-generation styling with extensive mechanical upgrades is drawing attention as it heads to auction from North Salt Lake, Utah.

The coupe, offered from the Hank’s Garage Car Collection, is currently bid to $4,500 with 11 days remaining in the sale. Listed with six bids and more than 2,600 views, the Firebird is represented by a Broad Arrow Specialist and is being sold with a clean Utah title noting the vehicle is exempt from odometer requirements. Mileage is indicated at 1,700 miles, though noted as true mileage unknown.

Introduced during the height of the pony car era under John Z. DeLorean’s leadership, the Firebird distinguished itself with a split grille, recessed quad headlights and sculpted body lines. This example retains the model’s recognizable profile but has been refinished in yellow with black stripes, replacing its original Primavera Beige paint. The interior, originally trimmed in Gold Strato-Bucket seats, now features recovered black vinyl seating and updated finishes.

Power comes from a replacement 350-cubic-inch V8 reportedly sourced from a 1982 Corvette and said to have had 10,000 miles at the time of installation. The engine features an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold, four-barrel carburetor, HEI distributor, serpentine drive system, aluminum radiator with electric fan and dual Magnaflow exhaust. A 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive handles shifting duties.

A standout feature is the Jaguar-sourced independent rear suspension conversion, complemented by Bilstein coilovers and four-wheel disc brakes, including inboard rear discs and a Hydroboost system. The car rides on 15-inch American Racing wheels fitted with BF Goodrich tires.

Additional updates include Vintage Air air conditioning, aftermarket AutoMeter gauges, a tilt steering column and Custom AutoSound head unit. Known imperfections include paint chips, minor cracking and inoperable windshield wipers.

The sale includes keys, a spare tire, jack and fire extinguisher, marking the first public offering of vehicles from Hank’s Garage. See it here.
