A rare 1984 Chevrolet El Camino Choo Choo SS with just under 25,000 miles is one of the standout entries in the Raleigh Classic Car Auctions’ October Special. Offered without reserve from The Raleigh Classic Collection in Zebulon, North Carolina, the low-mile example is currently bid to $12,500 with several days left in the sale.

Raleigh Classic Car Auctions has earned a national reputation for curating top-tier, original-condition vehicles from private estates. This particular auction features 28 premium domestic models, each selected for its authenticity and preservation. The 1984 El Camino SS Choo Choo exemplifies the blend of comfort and utility that defined Chevrolet’s car-truck hybrid, while adding the distinctive flair of Choo Choo Customs’ factory-authorized “Designer Series SS” package.

Built under contract with Chevrolet, Choo Choo Customs of Chattanooga, Tennessee, transformed standard El Caminos into sportier, Monte Carlo SS–inspired versions. These featured aerodynamic front fascias, cowl-style hoods, and unique SS graphics. Between 1983 and 1987, fewer than 5,000 of these modified vehicles were produced, with around 1,300 completed for 1984. Surviving examples, especially those with original documentation and low mileage, have become highly sought after among enthusiasts.

This example was purchased new in April 1984 and has remained with only two owners since. Power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 with a four-barrel carburetor, paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle retains its factory Rally wheels, Dark Royal Blue interior, and distinctive Choo Choo aerodynamic styling. It includes original purchase paperwork, service records, and a clean CARFAX report verifying its history.

Offered from a trusted regional auction house with more than two decades of experience, this El Camino represents one of the best-preserved examples of an often-overlooked 1980s performance-inspired classic. See it here.
