A 2003 Ford F-150 SVT Lightning with just 18,000 miles is scheduled to cross the auction block at Mecum’s Glendale event in March 2026, arriving at a time when interest in early-2000s street performance pickups is on the rise.
The SVT Lightning, produced for two generations before being succeeded by the off-road-focused F-150 Raptor, represented a different era for performance trucks. Where today’s buyers often gravitate toward all-terrain capability, the Lightning was engineered for pavement performance. In recent years, however, enthusiasm for these street-oriented pickups has grown, particularly among younger collectors, pushing values to record levels.
This example, finished in black, presents in what is described as excellent condition. It retains factory five-spoke alloy wheels and features SVT Lightning-specific bodywork. Additional equipment includes a BedRug box liner, a locking Euro-Lid 2 tonneau cover and side-exit exhaust pipes, further enhancing its distinctive appearance.
Inside, the truck carries a black interior with a split cloth bench seat embroidered with SVT logos on the headrests. Amenities reflect its early-2000s origins, including a power-adjustable driver’s seat, in-dash six-disc CD changer, cruise control, tilt steering column, air conditioning and power windows and locks.
Under the hood sits a supercharged version of Ford’s 5.4-liter V8, developed specifically for the second-generation Lightning. Factory-rated at 380 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, the engine sends power to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential with 3.73 gears. Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes handle stopping duties.
Low-mileage examples of the second-generation Lightning have become increasingly common at auction, including other 2003 models with 35,000 and 43,000 miles. Still, this 18,000-mile truck stands out for its combination of condition and originality.
As the market continues to rediscover the appeal of high-performance street pickups, this Lightning’s upcoming sale will serve as another indicator of sustained demand for Ford’s supercharged sport truck.
