Rare 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE Indy Pace Car For Sale

In the 1980s Pontiac was trying to rebrand itself as the maker of exciting and different cars. This led to the creation of probably one of the most ahead of its time American vehicles of the era - the Pontiac Fiero.

As the brand’s first two-seater in nearly 50-years, the first mass-produced mid-engined American car, and one of the period's most fuel efficient cars, the Fiero featured bold aerodynamics and styling. There were three different versions offered in the first year as an alternative to the base model Fiero, the Sport, SE, and Indy Pace Car.

The latter of which marked another milestone for the model as the first 4-cylinder car to pace the Indianapolis 500 since 1914. Based on the SE model, only 2,000 Fieros featuring the Indy livery were produced for the public making it a highly desirable option for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Vicari Auctions is offering a highly optioned 1984 Pontiac Fiero SE Indianapolis 500 edition. It features the iconic white, black, gray, and red paint scheme that brought so much attention to the model and a grey cloth interior. Powering the sporty but efficient Pontiac is the iconic Iron Duke 2.5-liter inline-4 paired with an automatic transmission. Other features include power windows, air conditioning, power locks, and cruise control. This is number 1,574 of the only 2,000 that were made and it is a prime example of what Pontiac’s 2-door coupe had to offer the automotive world.
