1970 Plymouth ’Cuda AAR Tribute Roars with 440 Six-Barrel Power

Restored 1970 Plymouth ’Cuda tribute packs a 440 Six-Barrel V8 and AAR styling in factory Lime Light finish.

A bold and brash 1970 Plymouth ’Cuda, finished in its original FJ5 Lime Light color and paying tribute to the legendary AAR ’Cuda, is now on the market—offering enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of muscle car history with modern upgrades and race-inspired styling.

The 1970 model year marked a major turning point for Plymouth’s Barracuda, which received a complete redesign on the new E-body platform. Shorter than its Dodge Challenger counterpart, the updated Barracuda came in several performance-focused variants. Among them, the high-performance ’Cuda stood out, offering drivers a range of big-block V8s. While the 426 Hemi attracted headlines, many performance purists gravitated toward the 440-cubic-inch Six-Barrel V8 for its low-end torque and street drivability.

This particular ’Cuda has been modified to resemble the limited-production AAR (All American Racers) variant, but with an even more potent setup under the hood. The car now houses a 1967-cast 440 engine, bored .030 over and paired with correct 1970 heads. Producing an estimated 390 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, the engine breathes through a trio of upgraded carburetors and finishes with stainless steel Pypes Race Pro mufflers. A 3,000-stall torque converter connects to a three-speed automatic transmission, channeling power through four-wheel disc brakes and 15-inch Rallye wheels with fresh BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.

Cosmetic enhancements include AAR strobe stripes, a rear spoiler, correct badging, and a new black vinyl top. The floor pans have been refinished in body color, while the interior features new tinted glass, a rally gauge cluster, and factory-style ’Cuda trim.

Originally a California car, the vehicle underwent restoration in Texas around 2002 and remains in excellent condition, with the consignor reporting no major imperfections.

With its head-turning looks, upgraded drivetrain, and authentic muscle-era character, this ’Cuda tribute stands as a compelling option for collectors and Mopar enthusiasts alike. See it here.
