A 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 R-Code 428 Cobra Jet equipped with a four-speed manual transmission is drawing strong interest as bidding continues ahead of its scheduled auction close Tuesday afternoon.

Listed in North Salt Lake, Utah, the car had reached $55,750 with 22 bids and nearly 16,000 views as the auction entered its final hours. The vehicle is offered from the Hank’s Garage Car Collection and is represented by a Broad Arrow Specialist, with the transaction to be facilitated by Broad Arrow, a subsidiary of Hagerty.
The Mach 1 was introduced for the 1969 model year as Ford’s primary performance package, replacing the GT. At the top of the lineup was the 428 Cobra Jet V8 with Ram Air, officially rated at 335 horsepower. The R-Code designation identifies the 428 Cobra Jet with a four-barrel carburetor and Ram Air induction. This example pairs the big-block engine with an optional close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and a 3.50:1 rear axle ratio with locking differential.

According to its data plate and VIN, the car was built May 12, 1969, at Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan, assembly plant and originally distributed through the Louisville district sales office. It is refinished in factory-correct Wimbledon White with red and gold side and rear stripes, a matte-black hood treatment and hood pins. The SportsRoof body features Mach 1–specific styling cues including a pop-open chrome gas cap, grille-mounted sport lamps and racing mirrors.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Dark Red Clarion knit-vinyl with high-back bucket seats and includes the optional Sport Deck rear seat package with hinged fold-down seats and a trunk access trap door. Factory equipment includes power steering, a woodgrain steering wheel, center console, Philco AM radio, full sound deadening and a 120-mph speedometer paired with an 8,000-rpm tachometer.
Service records dating back to 2008 document maintenance and component replacements, including cooling system work, exhaust installation and shifter replacement. The car rides on BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.

The listing notes cosmetic imperfections such as minor paint chips, scratches near the mirrors, headliner wrinkling and wear inside the console storage compartment. The cigarette lighter is inoperative, though major lighting systems, gauges and signals are reported functional. The car is offered with service receipts, a Deluxe Marti Report, owner’s manual and a clean Utah title. See it here.
